Many of our clients often ask why their body may still look the same right after undergoing liposuction or LAMS. Some even feel that there’s still fat in certain areas. If this sounds familiar, it’s important to understand that achieving the full results of these procedures takes time and patience.
Understanding the Healing Process
Immediately after liposuction or LAMS, your body is still in the process of healing. To break it down simply, your body consists of three primary layers: skin, fat, and muscles. During the procedure, the fat layer (located between the skin and muscle) is removed, leaving a space where the fat once was.
While bruising and swelling will subside in a few weeks, it takes about 3 months for the full effects to be visible. During this time, your body will naturally smooth out the treated areas, and the skin will adjust to its new contours. This healing process is essential for the best results, so be patient as your body recovers and adjusts.
How to Enhance Your Liposuction or LAMS Results
To maximize the effectiveness of your liposuction or LAMS procedure and achieve the best possible outcome, here are some tips!~
1. Follow a Healthy Diet
Focus on eating nutritious, balanced meals. Maintaining a healthy diet helps control fat gain and supports the healing process. Avoid excess salt and sugar, as these can cause bloating and hinder your body’s natural recovery.
2. Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water is crucial to help flush out toxins and reduce swelling. A good rule of thumb is to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day, but you can calculate your individual needs based on your body weight. Typically, you should aim to drink about 30-35 milliliters of water per kilogram of body weight each day. For example, if you weigh 60 kg (132 lbs), you should aim to drink approximately 1.8 to 2.1 liters of water daily.
3. Engage in Light Exercise
After the procedure, it’s important to avoid intense physical activity that could stress your body. Instead, try light exercises such as walking for 30 minutes a day. This will help promote circulation and prevent stiffness without causing damage to your healing skin. Avoid activities that may cause excessive friction or pressure on the treated areas.
4. Wear Compression Garments as Recommended
While compression garments are not mandatory for LAMS patients, they are highly recommended for individuals who have undergone thigh liposuction. For liposuction procedures, wearing compression garments is essential as it helps reduce swelling, supports skin tightening, and ensures the treated areas maintain their shape during recovery.
5. Avoid Alcohol and Smoking for at Least One Month
Alcohol and smoking can interfere with your body’s ability to heal and recover after surgery. To achieve optimal results, we recommend avoiding alcohol and smoking for at least one month post-procedure.
6. Monitor Your Progress
It’s helpful to track your weight and measurements regularly after the procedure. While initial results may be subtle, keeping track of changes in your weight and body measurements will help you monitor your progress and stay motivated as you see gradual improvements.
Liposuction and LAMS are powerful tools for body contouring, but remember, they’re not quick fixes. While bruising and swelling will fade within weeks, the best results will show in about 3 months. Give your body time to heal, stick to the recovery tips, and let your transformation unfold!~
