Hello! This is LipoMinac365, your trusted source for body contouring! When you think of spicy food and weight loss, your mind might immediately go to mouth-burning dishes like tteokbokki or malatang. But are those really helping your body slim down?

We asked our clinic’s certified nutritionist, and here’s what she had to say!

Spicy Food Can Help But Only If It’s Clean

Capsaicin, the compound that makes chili peppers hot, can slightly boost your metabolism and help curb your appetite. That’s great news for spice lovers! But there’s a catch…

Not all spicy foods are created equal.

“The benefit only applies when the ingredients are clean and organic,” says our nutritionist. “If your spicy food is drenched in oil, sodium, and processed additives, it can do more harm than good.”

Tteokbokki & Malatang: Delicious, But…

While we all love Korea’s comfort food staples like tteokbokki and malatang, these dishes are often loaded with:

  •  High sodium (which causes bloating and water retention)
  •  Excess oil (especially refined, low-quality oils)
  • Processed ingredients (like instant noodles or fish cakes)

“These dishes are tasty, but they’re not your friends when it comes to long-term weight management,” she cautions.

Good Spicy = Organic + Balanced

Instead of heavily processed spicy dishes, opt for meals made with fresh, organic vegetables and natural spices:

  • Spicy stir-fried veggies
  • Kimchi (in moderation)
  • Home-cooked soups with chili and garlic

These options give you the metabolism-boosting benefits of spice, without overwhelming your body with salt and oil.

Don’t Fear Fat Just Choose the Right Kind

Another myth our nutritionist debunks? That fat is always the enemy.

“Fat is essential for your body. It helps build healthy cells, regulate hormones, and absorb vitamins,” she explains.

But not all fat is equal. The best sources?

  • Avocados
  • Olive oil
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Fat from whole grains or legumes

These plant-based fats support your body without clogging your arteries or adding excess weight.

Be Smart About Spice

Spicy food can support your weight-loss journey but only when it’s part of a balanced, nutrient-rich diet. Skip the overly oily street foods and embrace whole, organic ingredients with a kick of heat.

And remember, a healthy body isn’t just about cutting calories—it’s about making informed, sustainable choices.Want to hear it directly from our nutritionist? Watch the full video on our youtube!
