We asked and heard directly from Director Kim Jeong-eun of 365mc Lams Center about Lams, a completely new obesity treatment procedure that has never been seen before. Lams, once you know, you won’t be afraid.
Q1: What is Lams?
LAMS is a unique obesity treatment method created by 365mc Obesity Clinic, which has over 10 years of obesity treatment history. It is a new concept of fat removal procedure that combines the advantages of liposuction surgery, which directly extracts fat cells, and lipolysis injection, which breaks down remaining fat.
Q2: Are there separate areas where Lams can be applied?
The treatment can be performed on any desired area of the body, but it is difficult to treat the chest and face. Additionally, it is difficult to perform LAMS even if you have experience with liposuction surgery in the same area.
Q3: I would like to undergo the Lams procedure and receive HPL lipolysis injections in other areas. Is this possible?
It is difficult to receive HPL lipolysis injections in other areas on the same day as the Lams procedure. Even if the area is different, HPL lipolysis injection requires a lot of drugs, and Lams also uses a strong lipolysis solution, so simultaneous procedures are not recommended. If you want to have both procedures, we recommend doing Lams first and then receiving HPL lipolysis injections in other areas the next day.
Q1: Is it possible to perform the Lams treatment on the same day that I visit the hospital?
You can proceed immediately after the same-day consultation. The consultation takes about 30 minutes and the procedure takes about 30 minutes.
Q2: Can Lams treatment be performed at all 365mc Obesity Clinic branches?
Currently, it is available at Seoul 365mc Hospital, Gangnam Main Branch, Daejeon Branch, Busan Branch, Nowon Branch, Sinchon Branch, Yeongdeungpo Branch, Suwon Branch, Cheonho Branch, and Bundang Branch, but Lams Centers are scheduled to open in key areas nationwide.
Q3: When does the Lams effect begin to appear?
It varies slightly from person to person, but for the first 1-2 weeks, it may appear more swollen than usual. The size reduction effect usually appears gradually starting from 3 weeks, and is clearly visible from about 6 weeks. After receiving Lams treatment, if you follow the after-care program periodically, it will be more effective if you improve edema, increase fat discharge, and control weight.
Q4: How many times does it take Lams to be effective? Are there any other treatments that are good to use together?
You only need to take Lams once to be effective. However, if you originally have a lot of fat, receiving it multiple times may be effective.
Q5: Is it possible to receive LAMS on the same area more than once? If possible, how long should I wait before getting Lams again??
Multiple treatments can be performed on the same area, but it can be done at least 4 weeks before receiving Lams again.
Q6: Can I receive Lams after-care at a branch other than the branch where the treatment was performed?
Since Lams is a specialized aftercare, it is recommended that you receive the first aftercare at the center where Lams was performed. If unavoidable circumstances arise, you can only receive it once at another branch.
Lams says there is no pain, but are there any bruises or swelling?
Lams rarely bruise. However, because a solution that dissolves fat is injected into the body, the treated area may feel a little tight for about 12 days. However, it is less than when receiving HPL lipolysis injection. Occasionally, if the patient’s fat is tightly packed together, some bruising may occur. There may be occasional bruising or swelling, but of course it is much less than liposuction surgery and much less than regular injection procedures. Even if there are bruises, they will disappear within at least a week, so you don’t have to worry too much. The swelling will go down within 12 weeks, along with drinking plenty of water and doing some exercise to help the swelling go down.
Are there any areas where Lams is particularly effective?
The process of extracting fat and breaking down the tightly packed fibrous membrane with LAMS has the same effect no matter where the treatment is performed. Just because the treatment area is different does not mean that there is a ‘particularly more effective area’. LAMS is effective in all areas.
They say I can shower the next day after LAMS. Do I need to wear a waterproof band?
It is best to shower the next day as you may be exposed to infection. Since the wound in the area where LAMS was administered is about the size of a needle mark, there is no need to wear a separate waterproof band one day after the procedure.
Is it possible to exercise or swim after Lams?
I can exercise. However, if you exercise with a lot of movement or the treated area is moved excessively, the fat decomposition solution may leak out a little. Swimming is possible starting the day after the procedure.
I heard that fat is extracted with a syringe, but won’t the treatment area be hollow?
A dent may occur when excessive pressure is applied using a machine during liposuction surgery. It doesn’t happen to everyone, but it can happen occasionally. However, since Lams gently pulls out the product using only the power of the human hand, there is no need to worry about dents or uneven deformation of the skin.
Are you in a lot of pain? I want to get the procedure, but I’m too scared.
- Because it is a procedure that involves a needle and a fat-dissolving solution, there is almost no pain, and it is said that the pain is much minimal compared to other procedures. It is said that it hurts a little when the local anesthesia is applied to the treatment area for the first time, and it feels a little tight when the solution goes in.
I had the Lams procedure last time and had it again today. I think there was less fat this time than last time.
- It is said that the amount of fat extracted with a syringe varies depending on the area treated, and the amount and color may also vary. Areas with a lot of cellulite may appear red, but there is no need to worry, and it does not mean that there is a lot of blood or less fat.
Isn’t the red fat accompanied by blood?
- In areas with solid cellulite, the fibrous membrane needs to be broken more strongly to be effective, so bleeding may occur relatively more than in areas with less cellulite.
- It seems like the solution is leaking after the procedure. Is this okay?
- Since the fat-decomposing solution is intensively injected into the local area, the solution may leak slightly, but this does not reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. You can rest assured that almost no solution will leak out the day after the procedure.
- Doesn’t it leave a scar? When will the needle marks disappear?
- Because a very small hole is made with a syringe needle, no scars are left, and the needle marks will gradually disappear over time, so you do not need to worry.
- Is it okay to get the procedure during menstruation?
- Yes, it has nothing to do with the procedure. However, patients may feel uncomfortable while changing clothes or lying down for the procedure.
Can I drive on the day of the procedure?
- it’s possible. The fat-dissolving solution may cause your hands to shake or make you feel slightly dizzy, but it will be fine if you get enough rest at the hospital.
Should I wear a compression garment?
- You can wear compression garments depending on your personal preference, but it is not essential.
The procedure seems very scary. Can I get anesthesia to sleep?
- Because LAMS is a non-surgical procedure, the pain is not severe enough to require anesthesia. If you relax and undergo the procedure, you will be fine.
Will it hurt when the anesthesia wears off?
- You may feel some muscle pain or a tingling sensation in the treatment area. Or, you may feel like there is pain due to the bruise, but it will gradually improve over time.
